Diljit Dosanjh dedicates Guwahati concert to Dr Manmohan Singh, encourages audience to adopt ex-PM's philosophy | Watch
PTC Web Desk: "Hazaro jwabon se meri khamoshi achi... Hazaro jwabon se meri khamoshi achi,,, na jane kitne sawalon ki abroo rakhe." With these poignant lines, singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during his concert in Guwahati on Friday. Addressing the packed audience, Diljit highlighted the simplicity and humility of Dr Singh's life, calling it a model for everyone to emulate.
“He lived a simple life and never gave anyone a harsh reply,” Diljit Dosanjh said. Taking a light dig at the current political climate, he remarked, “Have you ever seen Lok Sabha sessions? Leaders fight like nursery students.”
Encouraging the audience to adopt Dr Singh’s philosophy, he added, “We should remain focused even if someone speaks ill of us. Instead of letting negativity derail us, we must stay calm and composed.”
The concert in Guwahati, packed to capacity, was part of Diljit’s ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour, which has seen the singer perform in major cities such as Indore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai etc. However, the tour has not been without its share of controversies.
AP Dhillon's posts point to something wrong between Diljit Dosanjh and AP Dhillon. In a podcast recently, AP Dhillon indirectly accused artists of unfair ticketing practices. Without naming anyone, AP Dhillon criticised the strategy of selling concert tickets to promoters in advance, leading fans to pay inflated prices.
"Artists are doing injustice to their fans, showing that shows get sold out in seconds. But in reality, this is just marketing," Dhillon said. He admitted considering similar practices but decided against it, stating that his conscience wouldn’t allow him.
Adding to the challenges, Diljit’s concert in Chandigarh on December 14 also landed the organisers in trouble for exceeding noise limits. The event, held at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34, reportedly violated the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s mandated noise cap of 75 decibels. Reports revealed that noise levels ranged between 76.1 and 93.1 decibels at three different locations.
The UT Administration is now preparing to impose the penalty on the organisers under the Environment Protection Act. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has submitted a report, which has been forwarded to the Environment Department for review. Officials have stated that the organisers will be given an opportunity to present their case before a final decision is made.
Grand Finale in Ludhiana
Despite these controversies, Diljit’s tour continues to draw massive crowds. The grand finale of the Dil-Luminati Tour is set to take place in his hometown, Ludhiana, on December 31. Fans are eagerly awaiting the final performance, which will mark the conclusion of a tour that has been both celebrated and criticised.
