Coldplay breaks record for highest attended music tour in history
PTC Web Desk: British rock band Coldplay has set a new benchmark in live music, achieving the highest attendance in a music tour with their ongoing Music of the Spheres World Tour. With eight months still remaining, the tour has already drawn a larger audience than Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
During their India leg, Coldplay captivated fans with electrifying performances in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. According to Guinness World Records, the band delivered the largest stadium show in Ahmedabad, with over 223,000 fans attending across two nights on January 25-26. Guinness World Records acknowledged this feat via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, celebrating the band’s historic milestone.
Despite the achievement, Coldplay clarified in a social media statement that they have not yet surpassed the record for the largest concert audience ever. The current record holders include Italian singer Vasco Rossi, who performed for 225,000 fans in Modena Park, Italy (2017), and Sir Rod Stewart, who drew 3.5 million attendees in Rio de Janeiro (1994).
Coldplay’s Mumbai concerts at DY Patil Stadium (January 18, 19, and 21) also saw a massive turnout, further solidifying the band's global popularity. Before Ahmedabad, their largest audience was 83,000 at a Sydney concert in November 2023.
With months of touring still ahead, Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour continues to make history.
