'Close liquor shops...will stop songs on alcohol': Diljit Dosanjh after Telangana govt's legal notice

PTC News Desk: Diljit Dosanjh has again attacked the Telangana government for issuing him a notice. Addressing his audience at a concert in Ahmedabad last night, he also stated that he would not sing songs about alcohol as Gujarat is a dry state.

His furious reaction came after the Telangana government instructed him not to promote alcohol, drugs, or violence in his songs before his Hyderabad event. Dosanjh, who is now on the Dil-Luminati India Tour, altered his songs 'Lemonade' and '5 Taara' while playing in Hyderabad.

During his most recent concert in Ahmedabad, he declared, "Even today, I will not sing any songs about alcohol. Gujarat is a dry state."

"If alcohol is banned here, I support the Gujarat government. I openly support the Gujarat government on this. If you close liquor stores across the country, I will stop singing songs about alcohol," he continued.

The artist went on to say that while Bollywood has thousands of alcohol-related songs, he just has a few.

"I've sung dozens of devotional songs. I released two devotional songs over the previous 10 days. But nobody is talking about it. Everyone on TV is only talking about 'Patiala Peg'," Dosanjh stated.

He stated that if all states prohibit the sale of alcohol, he will stop singing about it.

"Let us start a movement. If all states declare themselves dry states, Diljit Dosanjh will stop singing alcohol-related songs during live concerts the next day. I've got another offer. Declare a dry day in any place where I show up; I will not sing songs about alcohol," claimed the singer.
