Electricity Crisis: Punjab govt orders ban on ACs in government offices
Ban on ACs in Punjab govt offices: Amid an unprecedented electricity crisis, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday ordered that all government offices would function from 8 am to 2 pm from July 2 onwards.
Punjab state government has also ordered that Air Conditioners would not be used in the offices during this period.

The ban on ACs in Punjab govt offices comes in view of the electricity crisis in Punjab. On Thursday, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh ordered curtailment in timings of state government offices from July 2.

Even as he ordered cutting down of power supply to high energy-consuming industries in an order to save crops and ease the domestic power situation.
Also, he appealed to government offices to make judicious use of electricity, adding that the situation was dire as the peak demand in the state had touched a whopping 14500 MW.
The Chief Minister also urged the agitating Power Department employees to call off their protest, which aggravated the crisis.
Likewise, he has constituted a three-member committee, comprising Additional Chief Secretary – Development, CMD – PSPCL, and Special Secretary Finance, to resolve the grievances of the agitating employees.
