Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim's family files parole plea
Haryana, October 11: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's family has filed a fresh parole application, according to Haryana prisons minister Ranjit Singh Chautala. Now, the administration is adhering to the rules regarding parole applications. The application has been forwarded to the Commissioner. He will soon prepare his report after which a decision on Ram Rahim's parole will be taken. Notably, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was granted month-long parole in June, after which he returned to Rohtak's Sunaria jail on July 18. For the unversed, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief has been serving a 20-year jail term for raping two women disciples at his ashram in Sirsa. In August 2017, he was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula. He was also convicted, along with four others, of plotting to kill Ranjit Singh, a Dera manager, in 2002. In 2019, the Dera head and three others were convicted of the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago.
