Delhi to implement strict lane rules for buses, goods carriers from April 1; check details
New Delhi, March 29: To ensure road safety in the national capital, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot has announced the implementation of strict lane rules for private buses, goods carriers from April 01, 2022. "If a bus driver doesn't drive in the bus lane, he will be penalised with Rs 10,000 for a first-time offence," said Kailash Gahlot in the Delhi Assembly, on Tuesday. "For the second time offence, a case for dangerous driving will be registered against the bus driver," added the Delhi Transport Minister. He further announced punishments for the third and fourth attempts of rash driving by the bus driver. Gahlot stated that "the driving license of the offender will be cancelled if the law is broken for the third time, while the fourth violation could result in the revoking of the permit of the private bus." We will take action according to the evidence provided," said the Delhi Transport Minister said while issuing the WhatsApp complaint number. In conjunction with Delhi Traffic Police and other stakeholders, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government has identified 46 major corridors totalling 75 kilometres for the drive's implementation. According to the order, buses and goods vehicles operating during the specified hours must use the bus lane, and no other motorised vehicle is allowed to enter the bus lane.
