Delhi Police oppose Sushil Kumar's bail, say witnesses 'terrified'
New Delhi, March 29: The Delhi Police on Monday challenged wrestler Sushil Kumar's bail petition in the Delhi High Court, claiming that witnesses in the Sagar Dhankar murder case are so terrified of the champion wrestler and his accomplices that one of them has sought court-ordered protection. On the night of May 4, 2021, Dhankad, along with other wrestlers, was allegedly abducted and beaten by Kumar and his associates inside Chhatrasal Stadium in the national capital. Dhankad died as a result of his injuries, and Kumar was charged with murder on May 23, 2021. The accused is the kingpin of the current case, according to Delhi Police, who conspired with other co-accused to arrange weapons and men, including dangerous criminals from Haryana and Delhi, to abduct the victims from various regions in order to commit the crime. Because the accused is an influential and well-known figure, police suspect he has a high chance of influencing or intimidating the witnesses.
