BJP's Raja Iqbal Singh elected as Delhi's new mayor, Jai Bhagwan assumes deputy mayor post
PTC News Desk: BJP's Raja Iqbal Singh has been elected as the new Mayor of Delhi, securing 133 votes. His opponent, Congress candidate Mandeep, received only 8 votes in the mayoral election. The Aam Aadmi Party had decided to boycott the elections.
Meanwhile, Jai Bhagwan Yadav of the BJP has been elected as the deputy mayor after Congress' Ariba Khan withdrew her name.
After decisive victory in Delhi Assembly polls, BJP has also managed to secure victory in Municipal Corporation after two years. The fact that the BJP is also in power at the Centre has given rise to talk of a 'triple-engine government' of the party in the national capital.
