Delhi government names four 'superspreader' areas
Amid growing concerns over the rise in coronavirus cases in the national capital, the Delhi government on Wednesday announced cinema halls, malls, metro and religious places as 'superspreader' areas.
In wake of the increasing number of coronavirus cases, cinema halls, malls, metro, and religious places have been called 'superspreader' areas, the Delhi government stated, adding that all DMS have been instructed to increase surveillance in areas.

The development comes at a time when Delhi reported 1,101 fresh COVID-19 cases, 620 recoveries and 4 deaths in the last 24 hours, on Tuesday evening. The total case tally has reached 6,49,973.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has said that public celebrations for festivals such as Holi and Navratri and other gatherings should not be allowed.

Coronavirus in India
India on Wednesday reported 47,262 new COVID-19 cases, 23,907 recoveries, and 275 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.
Thus, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 1,17,34,058 while a total of 1,12,05,160 patients have recovered. A total of 3,68,457 active cases are left in the nation while the death toll stands at 1,60,441.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 23,64,38,861 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to March 23, 2021. Of these, 10,25,628 samples were tested on Tuesday.
