Delhi government likely to ban sale of loose cigarettes, beedis
The Delhi government is planning to ban the sale of loose cigarettes and beedis in an order to discourage people from consuming it as these are injurious to health. It may be recalled that the Maharashtra government had imposed a similar ban on loose cigarettes and beedis in September last year. Legally, it was possible, the official said, adding that the rule laid down by the central government says that no person can trade or do commerce in cigarettes or any other tobacco product unless when such product is sold, supplied or distributed by him/her, it bears thereon on its label the specified health warning. However, another official said that it would be difficult to ensure strict compliance with the ban as such products were readily available across the city. Delhi allows up to 200 people to attend a wedding The Delhi government has allowed wedding gatherings with up to 200 persons in closed spaces while the number of participants would depend on the size of ground in case of open spaces. In closed spaces, a maximum of 50 percent of the hall capacity will be allowed, with a ceiling of 200 persons while in open spaces, the number of limits permitted will depend on the size of the ground. -PTC News
