CWG 2022: Indian Women's Lawn Bowls Team script history by clinching Gold
CWG 2022: The Indian Women's Fours team on Tuesday bagged a historic gold medal in Lawn Bowls, defeating South Africa 17-10 in the final.
The Indian team that defeated a strong South African team in the final comprised Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Rupa Rani Tirkey.
It is India's first medal in lawn bowls, bringing the country's gold medal tally to four.
The action was back and forth between India and its opponents, who have 44 medals and are among the top teams in the sport. India won the game 17-10.
The Indian squad took an early lead before South Africa rallied to tie the match at 2-2. India continued to dominate their opponents, with the score 7-2 in their favour after End 7.

After End 8, South Africa had two points on the board, while India had one more, expanding their lead to 8-4. South Africa made their comeback, making the score 8-6 after End 9, despite India's two-point lead. After End 10, the scores were tied at 8-8.
India lost their advantage after End 11, trailing South Africa by two points at 8-10. After End 13, India's luck began to change in their favour once more, as they scored two more points to take a 12-10 lead. They maintained their renewed momentum and stretched their advantage to 15-10.
India never looked back after that, winning the match with gold while South Africa had to settle with silver.
