Amid the downward trend in the nationwide Covid-19 case trajectory, the Central Government on Wednesday asked states and Union Territories to review, amend or do away with additional coronavirus restrictions after reviewing the situation in their regions.
In a letter to chief secretaries and chief administrators of all states and UTs on Tuesday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said Covid-19 cases in India were showing a declining trend since January 21. The average daily coronavirus cases during last week were 50,476.

“Currently, as the case trajectory across the nation is showing a sustained downward trend, it will be useful if states/UTs review and amend/do away with the additional restrictions so imposed after considering the trend of new cases, active cases and positivity within the state and UT,” he said.
Furthermore, the Central government on Thursday informed that over 11.73 crore unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with States and Union Territories.
