Covid-19: India logs 20,279 new cases, 36 deaths

New Delhi: India reported 20,279 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's coronavirus tally to 4,38,88,755, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Sunday. With the newly recorded cases, the active caseload of the country increased to 1,52,200. The death count rose to 5,26,033 with 36 new fatalities, according to the health ministry's update. According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate was 4.46 percent and the daily positivity rate was 5.29 percent. The ministry says that as of now, the country has received 201.99 crore doses of the Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign. According to fresh government data, there are still 7.98 crore more vaccine doses available to States and Union Territories. "More than 194.17 crore (1,94,17,34,325) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than 7.98 Cr (7,98,65,080) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered," the Ministry said.
