Covid-19: India logs 16,103 new cases in 24 hours
New Delhi, July 3: India registered a slight dip in the number of daily Covid cases as it reported 16,103 new infections in the last 24 hours. The daily case positivity rate is at 4.27 percent, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday. The previous day, India logged 17,092 fresh infections. With this, the active caseload in the country crossed the 1 lakh mark. The active cases in the country now stand at 1,11,711. According to the Ministry, 13,929 covid patients have recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,28,65,519. The recovery rate is at 98.54 percent. Meanwhile, as many as 31 patients succumbed to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 5,25,199. In the new phase of the universalization of the Covid vaccination program, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 percent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs. Amid the recent surge reported in coronavirus cases across the country, the Health Ministry of India on June 9 urged States and Union Territories not to lower their guards and strictly adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour.
