Coronavirus update: Union Govt warns against mass gatherings as festival season nearing

Coronavirus update: The Union Government has urged people to get vaccination done and follow Covid 19-appropriate behaviour, especially during the festive season. The government said mass gatherings should be discouraged, but if attending it is essential then full vaccination should be a priority. The Union Government warned that the second wave of coronavirus infection in India is not yet over, even though the weekly positivity rate is showing an overall declining trend. While 16 per cent of India’s adult population have received both doses of coronavirus vaccine, 54 per cent have been administered at least the first dose. “In Sikkim, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Himachal Pradesh, all adult population have got at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine,” the government said. The Union Government said mass gatherings should be avoided and if needed, full vaccination should be a prerequisite.
