Major announcement for those visiting Punjab from Delhi
While coronavirus cases continue to rise, the Punjab Government is considering to make test certification mandatory for those entering the state from Delhi. It has also decided to implement stricter lockdown on weekends and public holidays. The Chief Minister has asked the medical and health experts to consider the imposition of strict conditions, including mandatory testing certification for entrants from Delhi, where the situation is getting worse. The DGP informed the Chief Minister that about 500-800 vehicles are coming to Punjab from the national capital every day. Meanwhile, an official spokesperson that a decision on stricter curbs on those coming from Delhi will be taken after a review by the experts. While expressing concern over the large number of people coming from outside the state, the Chief Minister said that there was no scope for complacency in the state’s battle against coronavirus. The Chief Minister also suggested that since it normally takes 3-4 days for the virus to show up, those coming from outside should be tested after a week, and in the meantime, they should be asked to home quarantine themselves. Meanwhile, the DGP has been directed to ensure strict implementation of the home quarantine.
