Coronavirus: Punjab records 7,699 Covid-19 cases, 33 deaths in 24 hours

Chandigarh: Punjab on Saturday reported 7,699 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 33 deaths due to coronavirus in 24 hours. The positivity rate of Punjab is 16.65 percent. Among new cases of coronavirus in Punjab, SAS Nagar registered the highest number of 1,244 Covid-19 cases; followed by Ludhiana (939), Jalandhar (759), Amritsar (654), Bathinda 517, Hoshiarpur (414), Sangrur (369), Patiala (359), Ropar (291), Tarn Taran (254) and Muktsar (246). With 7,210 patients recovered from the Covid-19, the number of recoveries is now 6,42,335. Coronavirus has, so far, claimed 16,948 lives in the state with total Covid cases climbing to 7,07,847. The number of active cases has reached 48,564. Former Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal, who tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago, has developed fever on Saturday.
