Coronavirus cases in Punjab rise to 3497; death toll 77; recovered 2538
The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 3497 after 126 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Wednesday evening. The death toll in the state has increased to 78 after 6 new deaths were reported from the state. Of 6 new deaths, 4 were reported from Amritsar and one each from Ferozepur and Sangrur. According to the media bulletin issued by the Punjab Health Department, Amritsar reported 17 new cases of coronavirus while 31 new cases were reported from Jalandhar. Ludhiana reported 40 new cases each while Pathankot and Ferozepur reported 6 new cases of coronavirus each. Mohali reported 5 new cases while 3 new cases were reported each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Mansa and Moga, and two new cases were reported from Sangrur. Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Fazilka, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, and Patiala reported one new case each. A total of 77 patients were declared cured and discharged. Of 77, 46 were from Jalandhar, 9 from Sangrur, 5 from Mohali, 3 from Kapurthala, 2 each from Tarn Taran, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, and Mansa. Likewise, one new recovery was reported in Gurdaspur. Currently, Amritsar is on the top of the tally with 659 cases of coronavirus followed by Ludhiana at 449, Jalandhar at 409, and Gurdaspur at 171. Tarn Taran has reported 170 cases of coronavirus while Mohali has reported 184 cases of COVID-19. Meanwhile, the Coronavirus tally of Pathankot has increased to 157 while the number of coronavirus cases in Hoshiarpur has spiked to 145. The coronavirus tally in SBS Nagar stands at 121 while Faridkot has reported 89 cases. -PTC News
