Punjab tally rises to 42 after Ludhiana reports new case of coronavirus

The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 42 after a new positive case was reported from Ludhiana on Wednesday. According to the information, ‪Surinder Kaur, a 72-year-old female has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Meanwhile, she has been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana. Reportedly, she is a neighbour of Pooja, a 42-year-old woman who died in Ludhiana due to coronavirus on Monday. She is a resident of Amarpura in Ludhiana. Luckily, Pooja's daughter has tested negative for the pandemic.‬

Ludhiana Police arrested around 60 people

Ludhiana Police Commissioner IPS Rakesh Aggarwal, in an order to avoid social gatherings, arrested around 60 people on Tuesday. Rakesh Aggarwal announced that whosoever was found violating curfew norms or was seen roaming outside their houses would be sent to jail. Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana has been converted into a temporary jail for now.

Death toll in Punjab

The death toll in Punjab stands at 4. A man, Baldev Singh, who died due to heart attack in Nawanshahr, was tested positive for coronavirus. He was the first casualty due to COVID-19. Afterward, a man identified as Harbhajan Singh, a resident of Hoshiarpur passed away in a hospital in Amritsar. Likewise, Pooja passed away earlier this week. Doctor and Nurse test positive in Chandigarh

Chandigarh reported fresh cases of coronavirus (COVID 19) on Tuesday taking the total number of cases to 15. A 31-year-old male nurse was tested positive for coronavirus, while a 40-year-old doctor, a resident of Sector 49-D Chandigarh, was tested positive at Mayo Hospital in Mohali. -PTC News
