Coronavirus India update: 42,909 new cases; Kerala continues to be worst affected

Coronavirus India update: As many as 42,909 new Covid-19 cases and 34,763 recoveries were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, taking total recoveries to 3,19,23,405 and active caseload to 3,76,324. A total of 300 deaths were recorded during this period. Kerala continues to be the worst affected as the state witnessed 29,836 cases and 75 deaths on Sunday As per coronavirus update in India, as many as 63.43 crore people have been vaccinated against the deadly virus. Covid-19 infections in India have witnessed a massive surge resulting in the cases standing to an eight-week high. India recorded more than 2.9 lakh fresh coronavirus cases in the week (August 23-29), a 32% jump from the tally in the preceding seven days. This was the highest number of weekly infections since the June 28-July 4 weeks when 3.05 lakh cases were recorded. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), all children have been shifted to an isolation ward at a coronavirus centre in Vashi Naka.
