Coronavirus: India reports 2,08,921 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours
Coronavirus India Updates: India on Wednesday reported 2,08,921 new COVID-19 cases, 2,95,955 discharges, and 4,157 deaths in the last 24 hours. As per the latest coronavirus updates, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India has increased to 2,71,57,795 while total discharges have gone up to 2,43,50,816. As of now, a total of 20,06,62,456 people have been vaccinated in the country. Also Read | Balbir Singh Rajewal slams government for blaming farmers for spreading coronavirus According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 33,48,11,496 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to May 25, 2021. Of these, 22,17,320 samples tested on Tuesday. The highest ever 22.17 lakh tests were conducted in a single day, the Health Ministry stated. Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry stated that the Active caseload further declined to 24,95,591. A decrease of 91,191 in the active cases was reported in the last 24 hours. At 2.08 lakh new cases, the declining trend in new cases has been maintained. Likewise, the recovery rate has increased to 89.66 percent while the weekly positivity rate is at 11.45 percent and the daily positivity rate at 9.42 percent, less than 10 percent for 2 consecutive days. The States have been urged repeatedly to keep vaccine wastage below 1 percent. States like Jharkhand (37.3%), Chhattisgarh (30.2%), Tamil Nadu (15.5%), Jammu & Kashmir (10.8%), Madhya Pradesh (10.7%) are reporting much higher wastage than the national average (6.3%).
