Coronavirus: India continues to record biggest spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths

Coronavirus India Updates: The coronavirus situation in India is only getting worse. India once again recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the coronavirus updates given by the Union Health Ministry, India on Thursday reported 3,79,257 new COVID-19 cases, 3645 deaths, and 2,69,507 discharges in the last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 1,83,76,524 while the total recoveries have gone up to 1,50,86,878. The death toll has reached 2,04,832 while the Active cases have surged to 30,84,814. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 28,44,71,979 samples have been tested up to April 28, 2021, for COVID-19. Of these, 17,68,190 samples were tested on Wednesday. A total of 15,00,20,648 people in the country have been administered COVID-19 vaccines so far. Coronavirus India Updates: Coronavirus situation in India is only getting worse as it recorded highest number of COVID-19 cases. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that the Government of India has so far provided over 16.16 cr vaccine doses to States/UTs free of cost. "Over 1 cr doses still available with States/UTs to be administered," it said, adding that over 20 lakh doses, in addition, will be received by States/UTs in the next 3 days.
