With 61,408 new COVID-19 cases, India's tally rises to 31,06,349

India reported 61,408 new COVID-19 cases, 57,468 recoveries and 836 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Monday morning. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases has increased to 31,06,349 out of which 23,38,036 have been cured and discharged while 57,542 have died due to the pandemic, the Union Ministry of Health and Welfare said. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 3,59,02,137 samples have been tested up to August 23 out of which 6,09,917 samples were tested on Sunday. Meanwhile, PM-CARES Fund Trust has come up with an idea to allocate funds in a fight against coronavirus by way of establishment of 500-bed COVID-19 makeshift hospitals at Patna and Muzaffarpur, Bihar by DRDO. Coronavirus India Cases Today | COVID 19 Death Toll August 20 Likewise, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) stated that the 500-bed hospital at Bihta, Patna to be inaugurated and a 500-bed hospital at Muzaffarpur to be inaugurated soon. These hospitals have 125 ICU beds with ventilators and 375 normal beds each. Each bed has an oxygen supply. Staff will be provided by Armed Forces Medical Services.
