Coronavirus positive cases in India rise to 62,939; death toll 2,109
The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has climbed to 62,939 after 3,277 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Sunday morning. There has been 127 fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Meanwhile, the death toll stands at 2109.
The Health Ministry was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "Spike of 3277 COVID-19 cases and 127 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total cases in the country now at 62,939, including 41,472 active cases, 19,358 cured and discharged and 2,109 deaths."
Of 2,109 fatalities, Maharashtra is on the top with 779 deaths followed by Gujarat at second with 472 deaths, Madhya Pradesh at 215, West Bengal at 171, Rajasthan at 106, Uttar Pradesh at 74, Delhi at 73, and Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu at 44.
Reportedly, the death toll in Punjab has reached 31, 30 each in Karnataka and Telangana. Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana each have registered nine deaths due to coronavirus, Bihar 5, and Kerala 4.

Jharkhand has recorded three fatalities. Odisha, Chandigarh, Assam and Himachal Pradesh have reported two deaths each while Meghalaya and Uttarakhand have reported one death each, according to the data provided by the ministry.
