Coronavirus positive cases in India rise to 19,984; death toll 640
The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has climbed to 19,984 after 1383 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Wednesday morning. Out of 19,984 cases, 3870 have been cured and discharged while the death toll has reached 640 after 50 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "India's total number of Coronavirus positive cases rises to 19,984 (including 15474 active cases, 3870 cured/ discharged/ migrated and 640 deaths)." According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in the country with over 5,218 cases, out of which 251 patients have died. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi stands at 2156 while Gujarat is on the third spot on the list with 2178 cases. At a routine media briefing on coronavirus situation in India, Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal, Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that more than 3000 people have been cured of coronavirus in the country so far, including 705 COVID-19 patients who were discharged on Monday. With this, the recovery percentage has increased to 17.48 percent.
