Coronavirus positive cases in India rise to 18,601; death toll 590
The total number of coronavirus (COVID 19) cases in India has surged to 18,601 after 1336 new positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Tuesday morning. Out of 18,601 cases, 3252 have been cured and discharged while the death toll has reached 590 after 47 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "47 deaths and 1336 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. India's total number of Coronavirus positive cases rises to 18,601 (including 14759 active cases, 3252 cured/ discharged/ migrated and 590 deaths)." According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with over 4,666 cases, out of which 572 patients have been cured while 232 are dead. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi stands at 2,081 of which 431 patients have been cured and discharged, while 47 people have lost their lives. Gujarat is on the third spot on the list with 1,939 cases out of which 131 patients recovered and 71 are dead. Tamil Nadu has reported 1,520 cases with 457 patients recovered and 17 deaths. Rajasthan has recorded 1,576 cases of which 205 people have recovered and 25 patients are dead.
