Consider masks as vaccine: Health Minister after spike in COVID-19 cases in Delhi
COVID-19 Vaccine: The total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi has been increasing sharply. Delhi, on Thursday, registered its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases ever since the pandemic occurred.
All citizens have been waiting for a vaccine against the novel coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his speech on October 20, had asserted the nation to not take coronavirus lightly until the availability of COVID-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday said that "Around 35 percent of our beds were occupied. Spike in cases was due to aggressive contact tracing and testing."

Later, he said that "Until there was a vaccine, masks should be considered as vaccine. If you wear masks, it'll protect you from pollution and COVID-19 both."
A record 5,739 fresh COVID-19 cases were registered in the national capital on Thursday. This was for the second consecutive day that the national capital recorded more than 5,000 cases in 24 hours.

As per the Delhi government, 5,739 fresh cases were from the 60,124 tests conducted on Wednesday.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Delhi has mounted to 3,75,753 with 30,952 active cases. The death toll in the national capital due to contagion disease now stands at 6,423.
On Thursday, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, while reacting on 3rd wave of COVID-19 in Delhi, said that “We must wait for another week in order to definitively say that, but it was possible that we’re already in that phase.”
