Cold conditions persist in Punjab, Haryana
Cold weather conditions continued in Punjab and Haryana Friday even as minimum temperatures stayed a few notches above normal in several parts of both states. Union Territory Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, braved cold weather conditions at 9.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, a MeT department official said. Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded respective minimum temperatures at 6.4 degrees Celsius, 10.2 degrees Celsius and 10.6 degrees Celsius, up to four notches above normal. In Haryana, Ambala's minimum was 11.9 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, while Bhiwani, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul experienced cold weather conditions at 11 degrees Celsius, 9 degrees Celsius, 8.8 degrees Celsius and 9.5 degrees Celsius, up to four notches above normal. Maximum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana also hovered around three to five degrees above normal and were in the range between 22 to 25 degrees Celsius.
