CM Bhagwant Mann reiterates promise to procure every single grain of paddy
Chandigarh, October 6: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday reiterated the state government's firm commitment to procure every single grain of the crop. During the meeting with the farmers at Punjab Bhavan, the Chief Minister said that the state government has made proper arrangements to purchase the farmers' crops as soon as they reach the markets. He further stated that a system has been developed to ensure timely payment to farmers in their bank accounts. CM Bhagwant Mann also ensured the smooth and hassle-free procurement of food grains in the markets so that the farmers do not face any difficulties. The Punjab Chief Minister further stated that farmers' tractors will be allowed to load/transport grain during the current procurement season. He stated that appropriate amendments to this act will be made for the current procurement season. According to Bhagwant Mann, the state administration is committed to the welfare of farmers. He stated that funds had been put into the bank accounts of 17000 farmers. According to Bhagwant Mann, the remaining farmers would likewise be reimbursed within a week. Bhagwant Mann further assured farmers that the State Government would provide a detailed list of animals affected by Lumpy Skin Disease to the Government of India. He stated that the state government will approach the central government about compensating farmers who lost cattle owing to this sickness. According to Bhagwant Mann, attempts are already being made with the central government to have this disease designated an epidemic.
