Chandigarh revokes its decision restricting unvaccinated students from attending classes
Chandigarh, May 3: The Chandigarh administration has put on hold its order prohibiting unvaccinated children between 12 to 18 years from attending classes in physical mode from May 4. The development comes after the Adviser to Administrator, Dharampal, reviewed the present positivity rate and the status of Covid vaccination in the Union Territory. The Adviser to the Administrator on Tuesday stated that the earlier decision that restricted unvaccinated students in the age group of 12 years to 18 years from attending the classes in physical mode is to be kept in abeyance till further orders. He further added that the Health Department, in close coordination with the Education Department, continues its efforts to complete the 100% vaccination with the first dose for all the children in the age group of 12yrs to 18 years by 15th May 2022. Reacting to the orders of the apex court, Dharampal had said, “We will examine the orders of the Supreme Court and implement it.” Dharampal, however, stated that though the Covid vaccination is optional, it is the duty of the Administration to educate and inform the citizens about its benefits. He further made an appeal to all the teachers in UT Chandigarh to educate and aware the children about the Covid vaccination, and urged the parents to get their children vaccinated against Covid without any further delay.
