Chandigarh MC elections 2021: Polling begins, to conclude at 5 pm
Chandigarh MC elections 2021: The voting for Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections started on Friday. The polling will conclude at 5 pm. The results will be declared on December 27. This year, the number of wards has been increased from 26 to 35. A total of 694 polling booths have been set up out of which 220 have been entitled as sensitive booths. These include Mauli Jagran, Mani Majra, Hallo Majra, Daria village, EWS colonies Dhanas, Khuda Ali Sher, Khuda Jassu, and others. A total of 203 candidates are in the fray. In 2016, the BJP-SAD alliance had clinched 21 municipal seats out of a total of 26, putting an end to the winning streak of Congress which had been ruling the MC for over 14 years. However, Shiromani Akali Dal broke the historic alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party in protest against the farm laws. After forging an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party for the Punjab Assembly elections 2022, the SAD and the BSP decided to join hands for the Chandigarh MC elections 2021. -PTC News
