Chandigarh: Manimajra to be renamed Sector 13 soon
Chandigarh will soon have Sector 13 with the UT administration planning to rename Manimajra. The administration has issued a notice seeking objections and suggestions from residents for renaming of various areas which are not covered under the sector grid. Residents can submit their suggestions and objections to UT chief architect office at Sector 9, Chandigarh by December 16. While the French perceived the number 13 as unlucky, experts of Indian scriptures find it auspicious. Festivals of Lohri and Baisakhi are celebrated on January 13 and April 13 respectively. Also, the 13th day of each month is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Maloya and Dadumajra as Sector 39 (West) while Pocket no. 8 below Vikas Marg as Sector 56 (West). Industrial Area, Phase I, II, III as Business and Industrial Park I, II, III, respectively.
