Chandigarh: Banks to open on alternate days with 50 percent staff strength

The Chandigarh Administration on Tuesday stated that it has allowed the banking activities to resume in the city as per the new guidelines in the advisory. As per the advisory, the Chandigarh is in the red zone/containment area. The Lead District Manager (LDM) was asked that he should gove a proposal for opening a minimum number of Bank branches without causing inconvenience to the general public and without causing any health risk to Bank employees. Meanwhile, the Chief Lead District Managers have given a proposal to open 50 percent bank branches on alternative days and operation of certain essential bank activities on a daily basis. It has also been decided that all the controlling offices/ bank offices, currency chest branches treasury branches, loan processing cells, forex branches, and cheque clearing centers shall open on the daily basis with 50 percent staff strength. Likewise, all the ATM operations, Bank correspondents should be operational on a daily basis. The cash in transit replenishment agencies and engineering support vendors for banks shall be operational on a daily basis. In the meanwhile, all the other branches will open on alternate days, as per the schedule annexed, with 50 percent of staff strength. He said in a tweet: "Hi citizens, can I suggest something. Dengue season is knocking on doors, please clean up water tanks, dry up waterlogged corners, sanitise house and relax. This is better exercise than the morning walk, which unfortunately is banned. we don't want Dengue and Corona both guests in the city." -PTC News
