Chandigarh administration announces reopening of schools, details inside
Amid a decline in coronavirus cases, the Chandigarh Administration on Tuesday announced the reopening of schools in the city. During the War Room Meeting, it was decided that the schools in Chandigarh will start functioning physically from July 19, 2021, for Classes 9 to 12 subject to parents’ consent for sending their wards to the schools. The coaching institutes will be allowed to function physically from July 19, 2021, with the condition that all the eligible students and staff are administered at least one dose of vaccine and the covid protocols are strictly followed in the institutes. Meanwhile, the number of guests for social gatherings like weddings would be increased to 200 or 50 percent capacity of the banquet hall, whichever is less with the condition that all adult guests and staff of the hotels, banquet halls to have received at least one dose of vaccine or to have negative RT-PCR report of last 72 hours. The Rock Garden and Museums will be opened with the covid protocol. Cinema halls and spas would also be allowed to function with 50 percent capacity. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 87 active cases and 60.3 percent and 9.6 percent of the eligible population has been given 1st dose and 2nd dose, respectively.
