Chandigarh DGP SS Yadav transferred to BSF, Raj Kumar Singh takes charge
PTC News Desk: Chandigarh DGP Surendra Singh Yadav, a 1997 batch IPS officer was transferred to Border Security Force (BSF) on deputation basis as deputy inspector general. He was relieved from his post of Chandigarh director general of police with immediate effect.
Yadav, a 1997-batch IPS officer, had been serving as the police chief in Chandigarh since March last year. Yadav was promoted to the ADGP grade in 2022. He was earlier posted in Delhi and held various positions in traffic, EOW and anti-corruption branch.
In its order, the Ministry of Home Affairs said 2004 batch IPS officer RK Singh will assume charge as director general of police of UT until further notice.
Notably, after Kiran Bedi, Yadav's tenure is the shortest one among police chiefs. DGP Yadav spent one year and 14 days while Bedi was transferred merely after 44 days.
After Yadav's appointment last year, over 2,000 police personnel were transferred including inspectors, sub-inspectors, head constables and constables. The reshuffle is considered as one of the most sifnificant in the history of department.
