CCI slaps Rs 936.44 crore penalty on Google over Play Store policies
The Competition Commission penalised Google Rs 936.44 crore on Tuesday for abusing its dominant position in Play Store policies and directed the company to cease and desist from unfair business practices. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) stated in a statement that it has also asked the company to modify its conduct within a certain time frame. The heavy penalty on Google came just days after the watchdog penalised the company Rs 1,337.76 crore for abusing its dominant position in numerous markets for Android mobile devices and directed the internet behemoth to halt and desist from various unfair business practices.
