Zomato rebrands as Eternal Ltd with expansion beyond food delivery
PTC Web Desk: In a major move to reflect its evolving business, Zomato will now operate under the new name Eternal Ltd., CEO Deepinder Goyal announced in a letter to shareholders. While the company's name changes, the popular food delivery brand will continue to be called Zomato.
Goyal shared that the rebranding signifies the company’s transformation beyond food delivery services, especially with its acquisition of Blinkit. "When we acquired Blinkit, we started using 'Eternal' internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. Today, with Blinkit, we feel it’s time to take this change public," he explained.
The decision to rename the company comes shortly after Zomato’s entry into the BSE Sensex on December 23, marking the 17th anniversary of its founding. Goyal described this as a moment of both pride and reflection, acknowledging the increased responsibility the company now holds.
Eternal Ltd. will now encompass four businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure. Once shareholders approve the name change, the company will transition its website from zomato.com to eternal.com, and its stock ticker will switch from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
Goyal said the name Eternal represented more than just a corporate rebranding, calling it a reflection of the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, endurance, and sustainable growth. He added, “True permanence isn’t built on bold claims of invincibility, but rather on the quiet understanding that our immortality stems from our mortality."
