Stock Market Update: Nifty hits fresh all-time high, Sensex nears 77,000 mark
Stock Market Update: Benchmark equity indices rose in early trade Wednesday, driven by buying in blue-chip stocks Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services. In early trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 252.62 points to 76,709.21, while the NSE Nifty advanced 82.25 points to 23,347.10.
The top gainers among the 30 Sensex companies were HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Power Grid, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, and Reliance Industries.
Titan, Asian Paints, IndusInd Bank, and Hindustan Unilever were among the underperformers. In Asian markets, Seoul traded higher, while Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong traded lower.
US markets closed mainly higher on Tuesday, ahead of US inflation data and the Fed's policy decision, which will impact the global share market's trajectory. The global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.42 percent to USD 82.26 a barrel.
On Tuesday, the BSE benchmark dipped 33.49 points, or 0.04 percent, to conclude at 76,456.59, while the Nifty edged up 5.65 points, or 0.02 percent, to 23,264.85.
