Microsoft to provide iPhones to China employees currently using android for work
PTC News Desk: According to reports, Microsoft will begin giving its Chinese employees—who presently use Android devices—iPhones. All Chinese employees have been required by the Satya Nadella business to use Apple iPhones for work purposes since September, according to a story from Bloomberg that cited an internal corporate memo.
According to the research, this occurs as the corporation focuses more and more on enhancing security and guaranteeing access to essential authentication programmes.
Microsoft will provide an iPhone 15 as a one-time gift to Chinese employees who use Android phones from Huawei and Xiaomi. These devices can be picked up at multiple locations throughout China, including Hong Kong, where Google services are available. Employees may still use Android devices for personal usage, but only for that purpose.
The move, according to the article, was made because Android users were unable to download essential security apps like Microsoft Authenticator and Identity Pass because Google's mobile services were unavailable in China. Since these apps may only be downloaded through the Apple App Store, iPhones are necessary for Microsoft's security procedures.
The requirement to use iPhones is a component of Microsoft's Secure Future Initiative (SFI), which was introduced in November in response to a string of cyberattacks. SFI seeks to strengthen security throughout the organisation by implementing multifactor authentication, safeguarding credentials, and leveraging AI to solve cloud vulnerabilities.
