Bird flu in India: Over 1800 migratory birds found dead in Himachal, cases in 4 other states
Bird Flu in India: At least four states — Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh — are under bird flu scare.
Meanwhile, Kerala has issued a high alert against bird flu on Tuesday even as it declared bird-flu as a state-specific disaster.

It is a disease that can spread to human through generally poultry birds. Normally, the virus does not directly infect humans, reports said.
The first case of Bird flu in India was reported from Rajasthan. By January 4, over 300 more birds were found dead in the state.

In Madhya Pradesh, bird flu virus was confirmed on January 1 where over 50 crows were found dead in Indore. Dr Manish Ingole of the animal husbandry department of Mandsaur had said that the flu has been detected in four samples of dead crows.
Similarly, Kerala reported bird flu cases in ducks on January 4 even as it announced high alert in two of its districts Alappuzha and Kottayam
It was reported from four panchayats--Nedumudi, Thakazhy, Pallippad and Karuvatta--in Kuttanad region of Alappuzha district and from a duck farm in Neendoor panchayat in Kottayam district.
Likewise, Kerala government on Tuesday issued a statewide alert as well.
On Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh became fourth state to confirm the flu as over 1,800 migratory birds were found dead in the Pong Dam Lake sanctuary.
Meanwhile, slaughtering, sale, purchase and export of any poultry, birds, fish of any breed including eggs, meat, chicken, etc., has been banned in Kangra district.
