Astronaut lands on moon week before Chandrayaan 2 landing [FACT CHECK]
Almost a week ahead of the scheduled moon landing of Chandrayaan 2, netizens were stunned by the video of an astronaut walking on the crater-riddled surface of the moon. It was almost like a time warp, with Neil Armstrong negotiating the barren, pockmarked expanse. The craters were quite similar to those seen in pictures of the moon surface sent by Chandrayaan 2 recently. As the astronaut slowly made his way across the bumpy terrain, a tempo passed by him. A tempo on the moon? That certainly took the cake! It took a while for netizens to register the fact that the video is quite obviously a farce. Which it is, courtesy a hapless citizen frustrated with the lack of road infrastructure maintenance in a crowded metropolis. Meet Badal Nanjundaswami, a resident of Bengaluru who is thoroughly fed up with the indifference of the administration towards the plight of roads in Yashwantpur. Since no one was listening, he decided to give his appeal to help a creative twist and got an actor to dress up as an astronaut. With Chandrayaaan trending in the country, his idea of presenting the roads of Yashwantpur as the rocky moon surface had the desired effect. He also tagged the Bengaluru MC in the video which he posted on Facebook. Chandrayaan 2: ISRO creates history as it launches GSLVMkIII-M1 from Sriharikota This is not his first attempt. Earlier, when puddles on roads left commuters high and dry, he used fake crocodiles and mermaids to catch the attention of the administration. Now that netizens are demanding answers from the Bengaluru MC, one hopes that Nanjundaswami’s efforts will ease his journey on the road. -PTC News
