As situation improves, internet services resume in Patiala
Patiala, April 30: As the situation improves, mobile internet and SMS services were restored in Punjab's Patiala district on Saturday at 4 pm instead of 6 pm. Notably, the internet services were halted from 9.30 am to 6 pm in the wake of a clash between two groups on Friday. However, the telecom services were resumed two hours earlier than scheduled. The Punjab government had ordered a temporary shutdown of mobile internet services and SMS services in the district on Saturday to check the spread of rumours. The decision was taken after a clash between two groups on Friday in which four people were injured. The order had instructed all telecom services providers in the state to ensure compliance with the order. According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister's Office, Mukhwinder Singh Chinna has been named as the new IG Patiala, Deepak Parik as the new SSP, and Wazir Singh as the new SP of Patiala. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann further ordered an immediate investigation into the case and directed the officials to nab the culprits at the earliest.
