Amritsar SMO COVID positive dies of heart attack
While coronavirus cases have been rising at a rapid pace, the SMO of Amritsar Civil Hospital, Arun Sharma, passed away on Saturday. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the past 10 days. A few days ago, Arun Sharma's video had gone viral on social media from the hospital, in which he was seen dancing and singing. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh tweeted: "Saddened to lose one of our hardworking Corona Warrior Dr. Arun who was SMO in charge Civil Hospital, Amritsar. He passed away this morning of heart attack and was also Covid-19 positive. It's sad to lose such a brilliant and committed doctor. Heartfelt condolences to his family." The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 50,848 after 1,474 new cases were reported from the state, as of Saturday evening. The death toll in the state has increased to 1,348 after 41 new deaths were reported from the state. Among the new deaths, Amritsar reported 2 new deaths, Faridkot reported 1, Fazilka 1, Fatehgarh Sahib 2, Hoshiarpur 2, Jalandhar 3, Ludhiana 17, Moga 2, SAS Nagar 1, and Patiala 10.
