Zirakpur: Police arrest 3 Bhuppi Rana gang members; cop injured in cross-firing

Zirakpur, July 17: Punjab's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) along with the district police reportedly arrested three members of the Bhuppi Rana gang after the encounter in Zirakpur's Baltana on Sunday. According to sources, the encounter took place between members of the Bhuppi Rana gang and police when four suspects came to extort money from a hotelier near a furniture market in Baltana around 9 pm on Sunday. Punjab Police arrest five shooters among 11 operatives of Lawrence-Rinda  Gang On receiving the input, police surrounded the hotel and asked the suspects to surrender. However, the cross firing ensued when the cops moved in to arrest the gangster. One cop was injured in the encounter and is said to be in stable condition. Police seized two country pistols, 10 cartridges and two shells from the suspects. The three arrested gangsters have been identified as Ranbir, Vishal and Ashish, residents of Sultanpur village of Barwala in Panchkula. According to DIG Gurpreet Bhullar, an FIR for extortion and under the Arms Act was registered on July 11. After this, a police trap was laid to arrest the accused.
