World Television Day: Why it is celebrated?

On this day, every year, World Television Day is celebrated across the world. While people are now hooked to their laptops and mobile screens, Television continues to enjoy its popularity. As per the United Nations, television is the single largest source of video consumption. It was first was celebrated on November 21 in 1996 as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) selected this day to mark World Television Day. On this day, meetings at local and global levels take place to raise awareness about the role of television in communication and globalisation. Meanwhile, Writers, journalists, bloggers and others associated come together to promote this day.
