US crackdown on Russia, sanctions 400 entities including 19 Indian companies
Dozens of Chinese, Hong Kong and Indian companies were zeroed in for helping Russia in a major crackdown.
PTC News Desk: The United States has imposed sanctions on about 19 Indian firms including two Indian nationals for aiding Russia in Russia-Ukraine war.
Besides, US has imposed sanctions on 400 entities and individuals. “The United States is today sanctioning nearly 400 entities and individuals for enabling Russia’s prosecution of its illegal war. The action was the most concerted push so far against third-country evasion,” a US State Department statement said.
Dozens of Chinese, Hong Kong and Indian companies were zeroed in for helping Russia in a major crackdown. According to a report, US Treasury Department has put 274 targets while the State Department designated over 120 and the Commerce Department added 40 companies
"This should send a serious message to both the governments and the private sectors of these countries that the U.S. government is committed to countering the evasion of our sanctions against Russia and to continue putting pressure on Russia to end its war in Ukraine," said the official.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Washington, Liu Pengyu said Beijing was firmly opposed to "illegal and unjustifiable unilateral sanctions."
