US murder: In the latest update in the US murder case, 29-year-old Jasvir Kaur, who was shot dead in New Jersey, was two months pregnant, according to sources. 

Notably, a Punjabi teenager identified as Gaurav Singh Gill opened fire on Jasvir Kaur and her cousin Gagandeep at Cartaret in New Jersey, United States, on Friday. While Jasvir was killed in the attack, Gagandeep is said to be critically injured.

Here's what we know so far

• Police have arrested 19-year-old accused Gaurav Singh Gill and charged him with murder and attempt to murder. Gill is from Jalandhar's Hussainpur village.
• Reportedly, Gaurav and Gagandeep have known each other since they went to IELTS coaching classes in Jalandhar.
• According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, the accused barged into Jasvir's home in New Jersey and opened fire.
• Following the shooting, both victims were airlifted to nearby hospitals, where Jasvir died from her injuries.
• The authorities have yet to reveal the motive for the crime or any connection between Gill and the women.
• Jasvir worked at Amazon's facility in Carteret. Her husband, a truck driver, was out of town during the shooting.
• Police arrested Gill following a six-hour search.

Taking to X, the Consulate General of India in New York said: “Deeply saddened to learn of the tragic demise of Ms Jasvir Kaur and injuries to Ms Gagandeep Kaur in a shooting on Roosevelt Av, Carteret, New Jersey. We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.”
