Washington, November 24: A tragic incident shook the University of Cincinnati Medical School community as Aaditya Adlakha, a 26-year-old Indian doctoral student, fell victim to a senseless shooting in Ohio, resulting in his untimely death. Aaditya, a fourth-year student in the molecular and developmental biology program, met a tragic end inside a car, marking an abrupt and devastating loss, according to reports from WXIX-TV.
The devastating incident unfolded earlier this month at the UC Medical Center, where Aaditya Adlakha succumbed to gunshot wounds, as confirmed by the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.
Details emerged from November 9, when Cincinnati Police found a vehicle crashed into a wall on the upper deck of the Western Hills Viaduct, with a man inside suffering from gunshot wounds. Reports from ShotSpotter, a gunfire detection service, indicated gunfire in the vicinity around 6:20 am, preceding the distressing discovery. Officers responded to calls from passing drivers who noticed bullet-riddled car windows and a person in critical condition inside, shared Cincinnati Police Lt. Jonathan Cunningham.
Transported to UC Medical Center, Aaditya fought for survival but tragically passed away two days later, despite medical efforts. Hailing from North India, Aaditya Adlakha journeyed to Cincinnati to pursue his medical education, having earned his bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Delhi's Ramjas College in 2018 and a master's degree in physiology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 2020.
