Sri Lankan naval vessel collides with Indian fishing boat; 1 fisherman dead, another missing

PTC News Desk: A collision took place between a Sri Lankan naval vessel and an Indian fishing boat near Katchatheevu Island. One fisherman was killed and another remains missing, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, a collision occurred around 5 nautical miles north of Katchatheevu Island. One of the four Indian fishermen on board was killed, while another is still missing. The remaining two fishermen were rescued and taken to Kankesanthurai.

The MEA reported that a search is underway for the missing fishermen. Officials from the Indian Consulate in Jaffna have been instructed to go to Kankesanthurai immediately to assist the fishermen and their families, according to the report.
