Serbia, May 3: In a school shooting incident at Serbia, at least 9 killed and several other injured after a schoolboy allegedly opened fire in his elementary school.

Police arrested a 14-year-old student at the Vladislav Ribnikar school in central Belgrade in connection with Wednesday morning's attack.

As per the officials, the 14-year-old used his father’s gun to open fire.

As soon as the noises of fire was heard, police rushed to the scene and found 14-year-old teen who is said to be in the seventh grade of Serbian school standing in the field with a weapon.

He had reportedly opened fire during history class, hitting a number of his peers, security staff and a teacher, sources stated.

While addressing to media, the eyewitness said, "I saw kids running out from the school, screaming. Parents came, they were in a panic. Later I heard three shots."

Notably, mass shootings are comparatively rare in Serbia as Serbia has very strict gun laws, but gun ownership in the country is among the highest in Europe.
